Baby Brooke

Here are the most recent pictures of Baby Brooke. She changes everyday, so in order that her fans keep an accurate idea in their minds I will post the "almost one week" old photos of her with her tied-for-second favorite uncle. (Paul wins out, and I'm tied with Michael)(don't ask how it's calculated, it's complex stuff--there's a coaches poll and a fan poll and they average the means and all that yahoo)

Any-heck, how on earth did this become blue and underlined without pressing any buttons???? Ow well, Second item of blogness (bloglines) was that I was able to meet Brooke's other grandma. There were roomers...haha (aha) rumors...that she was looking forward to seeing me and that made me nervous because I had to make sure to not disappoint her expectations. I felt pretty good, I planned some jokes before hand and as to be sure I wouldn't get cold feet. I'm sure the newsletters make more sense.

There, where'd the blue go??? There was a second item...oh yeah, I also brought over second cousin twice removed Aislynn (Slyness) to meet Brooke. Second cousin twice removed was anxious to meet the newest member of the family so that was nice. She loves Brooke.

Third item of business was that Grama (Gama) Chamberlain was sending a package to missionary sister-in-law's brother Michael. So naturally I took the time to write him one of my famous left handed colored messages. It was pretty good. If he knew who I were he'd get a kick out of it, but I signed it by myself and Brooke, so it will for sure be meaningful...in a very not literal way. I designed it so he won't get any meaning out of it unless his companion has a knack for interpreting dreams.

Fourth item of business should have been second item because when Steven and I went over they actually made sure there was food for our dinner. I originally called Cody after church to see if there was anything Steven and I could do for her...that turned out well.

And the fifth item of business was 2 fold: brad made a blog, and he actually told me after I asked him when he was going to make a blog and the answer was "yesterday". And that is where I made everyone's day because I saw a picture of Grandpa... ooh, I almost wrote Ketchisen (sketchiness) (and no, I can't spell that one either), no....Chamberlain and said he looked like James Bond which in unawares was actually a reference to a funny family joke and I think it was good enough to mike it into an impromptu letter to Michael because it probably wouldn't make it into next week's letter.

Fruit Salad

Here's what you've all been waiting for: a recipe post!

So this is Devyn's fruit salad that I made for dinner on Sunday. It's super easy, economical, delicious, healthy, smooth, irresistible and Steven liked it! What more could you ask for in a dish?

Some people prefer that the ingredients and mixing directions be in the same paragraph that way you don't have to look back and forth from the order of the ingredients back to the amounts and back to the order several times before you get it right. And by some people, I mean me.

Get a large metal bowl, the ones that make a twang sound when you flick them or hit a spoon on the side. Place a quart of Great Value Strawberry yogurt into the bowl. Use a spoon to make sure all of it makes it out. Have your helper eat the remaining yogurt and throw away tub into nearest trash receptacle (or you can wash it and use it as a food saver or you can throw away all the trash at the end in the last super step, your call). Open box of Great Value instant vanilla pudding. Ignore factory directions and place entire contents in bowl and mix with yogurt. I used a plastic spoon, a whisk would work wonderfully. Then comes the tricky part. Take an entire regular tub of Cool Whip and plop it into the bowl and FOLD it into the mixture. Don't simply mix it in. Then take 2 bags of frozen berries and mix them into the goodness. If you have a normal size mouth I recommend chopping the larger berries into smaller pieces. Use a knife. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and place in the fridge until ready to eat. I recommend letting the fruit thaw a little bit before eating. Eat for breakfast, lunch, snack, side dish, appetizer, or dessert. Serves 10ish.

So here is some stuff I've been working on and something I figured out this morning. Enjoy it. Hopefully I'll have another one to post later this week.

Plus/minus 29 rejections in one week

So here's my dating story for the week. On Sunday night my roommate and I decided what we would do for our Friday night date. There is this thing called Humor U and it is stand up comedy put on by BYU students. One of my old roommates is one of the comedians. They also had this promotion where the first 50 tickets bought got free shirts. So we planned to get tickets and free shirts. So Devyn went at 8:00, they weren't there yet. I went at 9:00 and the tickets weren't there yet. So this happened several times. I went home and took a nap and woke up to a text from a different roommate saying he got tickets and shirts. So I got up and raced over and handicap parked in the closest place possible and bought 4 tickets and got 4 shirts. $16. Cool.

So on Monday I called a girl, Kristy, and left a message. She got back to me on Tuesday and was already busy. So then on Wednesday I started texting this girl Kirsty that I met the other day so that I could call her and ask her out. She answered the texts, but not the phone call. Then I called this girl I knew from freshman year named Stephanie and she was already busy too. And finally I wrote a note to this girl who's number I didn't have asking her out and she called back on Thursday saying she was busy too, this was Alissa. Zero for four. Not bad. And Devyn also tried setting me up with 2 blind dates that failed.

But lucky for me the ward was also hosting a ward date night and the idea was to either bring a date, or take 15 minutes to try and find a date. So I decided to try my fortune. I was lucky enough to have one other person show up without a date so we went door knocking to find dates. We ended up knocking 24 doors. 2 buildings with 4 apartments on each of the 3 floors. We found one on the top floor of the first building and the next one at the top of the second building. So our sales pitch was that we were looking for girls who didn't have plans that wanted to play bigger and better. It was just like the mission. The first one was shorter than me and pretty cute, and I was thinking how do we decide who goes with who? But the buy I was with, Spencer, said that he would get the taller girl. Thank goodness, let's just say it worked out better for me.

So we played bigger and better, we started with a stick of gum, then we got a banana, then we got a picture of the Salt Lake Temple made out of 9 tiles, then we got a brand new unopened game of candyland and we finished with a pair of shoes owned by Matt Carlino, who is a starter on the BYU basketball team. He was sleeping when we got there so his dad just gave us his old shoes. Cool. Then all the groups got together and shared their loot. Then I asked my date, keara, if she wanted to go to Humor U, but she wanted to go home so that her roommate didn't have to be alone.

So I called Steven and we went to the show dateless. I really don't know what I'm supposed to get out of this experience, but it leads me to have a pessimistic view about post mission dating...at least I have a good profile picture...
